Dr. Joel Wallach discussed the body and its ability to benefit from natural healing without using modern medicine. Diseases and ailments are often related to deficiencies in various nutrients and minerals, he contends. For millennia, humans unknowingly enhanced their diet with minerals by putting wood ashes from fireplaces into their gardens. However, with the advent of electricity, the population largely stopped burning wood, and now have many more health problems because of the lack of these minerals, he stated.

Wallach declared that people can remain in optimal condition by giving the body everything it needs nutrition-wise, as well as avoiding certain dietary items like processed meats, and fried foods. Discussing the condition of gout, he said that it stems from an enzyme/metabolism problem in the liver and suggested that sufferers avoid eating items that make uric acid, including shellfish, legumes (peas/beans), and organ meats.

Dr. Joel Wallach discussed various ailments of the body and the ability to use natural healing without relying on modern medicine. He cited the benefits of natural remedies that aid in the recovery of many diseases that affect us today. If you're missing essential nutrients or not getting the minimum daily requirement, "your body chemistry doesn't work, and so suddenly you start getting symptoms-- you have fatigue, you have no energy, you're not able to function properly when it comes to making decisions...all these things are going wrong," he detailed.

Regarding the problem of chronic migraine headaches, one of the quickest ways to eliminate them is to get on a gluten-free diet, he suggested. Speaking about tinnitus or the ringing of the ear, he related it to a kind of osteoporosis in an area in the skull and inflammation of a cranial nerve. For Lyme disease, legitimate cases are curable within two weeks with antibiotics, but what people call "chronic Lyme disease" is actually gluten intolerance, he stated.

Dr. Peter Glidden, who has over 25 years of education, training, and experience in holistic medicine, discussed how to use natural remedies and supplements to maintain health and even recover from debilitating conditions. Sadly, due to a lack of pragmatic medical advice, the things many people do for their health are usually counterproductive, even though they have the best intentions, he remarked. And the last 10 years of most people's lives are often not that great, he continued. "It's the golden years brought to you by conventional medicine," with the elderly needing prescription medicines to wake up, to fall asleep, to manage their blood pressure, and heartburn, as well as an additional prescription to manage all the side effects of the other medications. Conventional medical doctors are trained how to manage patients' symptoms rather than bring about good health, he added.

Regarding evaluating whether a specific nutritional supplement is working for you, Glidden said that after a 90-day trial period, if you don't get any noticeable results, you should abandon it and try something else. Heartburn and insomnia are both related to calcium deficiencies, whereas magnesium and selenium are good supplements for heart health, he reported. Cholesterol is actually important for health, "and we have been led down the goose path by the pharmaceutical industry for the last 40 years," who have demonized this natural body substance, he asserted.

Naturopathic physician Peter Glidden began by stating that humans are genetically designed to live to the age of 120 years, if we're healthy. The most important issue to Glidden is to keep your body supplied with plenty of minerals. As an example he related how cattle ranchers provide plenty of minerals in feed while cattle are growing and then stop about four months before they sell the animal in order to get the cow to eat much more. Since the cow is trying to get the nutrients it needs, it will eat much more and therefore fatten itself for market.

"You can trace every chronic disease to mineral deficiency" Glidden said. He said that pesticides and herbicides kill the bacteria in the soil that allow plants to absorb them, so that most fruits and vegetables are lacking in many essential minerals. As for the seeming rise of gluten intolerance, Glidden said the real issue is that gluten inhibits absorption of nutritional elements. He believes that best way to increase health and longevity is to be careful about the source of your food and to add pure supplements to your diet. Glidden also cautioned listeners with his opinion that "your doctor is not trained in health care, he is trained in disease management."

First hour guest, naturopathic physician, health-talk radio host, and lecturer Peter Glidden shared updates on alternative health treatments. "MD-directed allopathic pharmaceutical-centered medicine for chronic diseases is a failed methodology that must be abandoned," he asserted. The keystones to your health are 90 essential nutrients that you can't typically get in your diet, he continued. Glidden suggested certain foods to avoid such as wheat, barley, oats, fried foods, well done red meat, and drinking carbonated beverages with meals (it interferes with stomach acids).

Dr. Peter Glidden, a naturopathic physician and lecturer, discussed the body and its ability to benefit from natural healing instead of modern medicine. He detailed various natural remedies and supplements that can aid in the body's recovery of many ailments that affect us today. We don't have a free medical market in the United States-- your medical doctor may be a good person but they only know what they've been trained in, which is just one piece of the health puzzle, he asserted. "We have become...socialized into believing that the medical doctor owns the secret decoder ring to all things medical and everybody else practices substandard alternative back-of-the-bus medicine," which is just nonsense, he continued.

He listed a number of foods to stop eating, including grains such as wheat, barley, rye, and oats (which contain gluten), all bottled oils, fried foods, well-done meats, and carbonated beverages with a meal (the carbon dioxide interferes with digestion). He commended a caller who ate a vegan diet, yet cautioned him that he still needs to get mineral supplementation, as the soil where the produce is grown doesn't contain all the necessary nutrients. Glidden connected the problem of obesity to people eating foods with low nutritive quality, and thus they keep eating more, trying in vain to get what the body needs.

Registered pharmacist Ben Fuchs discussed the latest in health information and natural approaches. Speaking of Thanksgiving, he spoke about gratitude as an important part of the spiritual, mental, and emotional strategies that can keep a person healthy. He also cited how relaxation (through simple things like taking a hot bath, or deep breathing) can improve one's skin and stimulate collagen production. "We have a high tech society, where we think it's about surgery, we think it's about...being medicated when it comes to health. Well, what has that gotten us? We've got hundreds of millions of people who are sick," he lamented.

Fuchs maintains that all diseases stem from a fouled bloodstream that is caused by substances that come in through the digestive tract, as well as nutritional deficiencies. A good supplement program can help counteract this, he said. Many diseases, he continued, are partially related to deficiencies in the B vitamins and he recommended taking them in liquid form which can be accessed more readily into the body. Type 2 Diabetes affects millions of Americans, and is a progressive disease that relates to how people process sugar, which includes starches such as bread. Fuchs suggested people "re-sensitize their sweet button" so they can consume less sugar and still be satisfied.
