There are many ways to leverage good health. The body has lots of built-in healing mechanisms and it's constantly repairing and regenerating.

Nutrition is important of course. So is respiration. Oxygen and carbon dioxide both have a key role in building strength and vitality. Exercise also plays an important part and so does relaxation.

Then there are the mental and emotional links to wellness and of all the ways we think and feel nothing is more important when it comes to the markers of good health than feeling grateful and thankful for all that we have. Not only do people who practice gratitude report fewer physical ailments, particularly when it comes to cardiovascular health, they're also, according to a 2012 study published in the journal "Personality", more likely to take care of their bodies.

One of those important ways to leverage the power of gratitude is to say grace before meals. The word grace comes from the Latin term for an act of thanks and the sense of thankfulness engendered by prayers of gratitude improves salivary secretions, digestive juices and intestinal absorption of nutrients.
