Pharmacist, nutritionist, and cosmetic chemist, Ben Fuchs shared alternative health concepts, and offered tips on supplements and healthy changes to one's diet and lifestyle. "We have allowed health to become corporatized," he lamented, "and there's an unsavory relationship between the corporate culture and our personal health and well-being... We've abdicated our...responsibility and given it to authorities." We need to take this back ourselves, as we can't trust our health to institutions, he declared. The current pandemic crisis, he added, offers us an unprecedented opportunity to take a fresh look at our health issues.
Supplements he recommended for a woman recovering from cardiac surgery, included selenium, niacin, and EFAs (which function as blood thinners). The seaweed supplement fucoidan, as well as glucosamine, work well as blood thinners too, he noted. Cayenne is also good for the heart and can be sprinkled into juices. Most autoimmune ailments are due to digestion issues, said Fuchs, and those with these concerns should pay attention to what they're eating. Problematic foods include gluten, grains, legumes, and in some cases eggs and dairy. Often people are already aware of which foods cause them trouble, he pointed out.
